Associate Pastor
Oasis Church is seeking a qualified and gospel-hearted leader to join our pastoral team and provide leadership to the ministries of our growing church.
About Oasis Church
Oasis Church, located on Brisbane’s north side, is a vibrant, Christ-centred community with a rich history and a clear mission. Our story began as a church plant led by immigrants in the Brisbane CBD in the 1950’s. Today, we are a community of almost 600 people from all different backgrounds and walks of life, united by the shared purpose to help more people find life in Jesus. As part of the Christian Reformed Churches of Australia, we are committed to gospel proclamation, expository Bible teaching, prayerful dependence on God and Reformed theology. Oasis Church is led by a group of elders, supported by a staff team of both men and women, with a strong culture shaped by God’s grace and motivated by God’s mission.
Role Overview
The Associate Pastor will be a person of godly character with a passion to help more people find life in Jesus. They will humbly and enthusiastically serve as part of a broader team, bringing leadership to key ministry areas and providing pastoral care and support.
Key Responsibilities
The Associate Pastor will be responsible for two of the following key ministry areas (there is flexibility in the exact role depending on the skills and experience of the applicant):
- Membership - helping people to belong
- Maturity - helping people to grow
- Ministry - equipping people to serve
- Mission - helping us to reach the lost

The Associate Pastor would also have other pastoral responsibilities such as:
- Pastoral care (alongside our Deacons)
- Occasional preaching in Sunday services
- Men’s Ministry (depending on skills/experience/desire)
Key Details
- This position is for a full-time role
- Exact role responsibilities will be negotiated with the successful applicant
- The start date will ideally be January 2026 (though there is flexibility)
- The Associate Pastor will report to the Lead Pastor
- Relocation support may be available for interstate candidates
- The successful applicant must hold or be able to obtain a current Blue Card, complete a National Police History Check that returns no disclosed outcomes that would exclude them from the role, and complete ChildSafe training
Key Requirements
The following skills and experience are essential for the fulfilment of this role:
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ.
- A desire to pursue life in Jesus, shown through an obvious trust in Jesus’ finished work, a growing knowledge of God’s Word, and a deepening devotion to prayer.
- A commitment to life together, shown through a commitment to gathering regularly with God’s people, building genuine relationships, and using gifts to serve.
- A devotion to life for others, shown through a deep love for the lost and a desire to share the good news of the gospel.
- Ability to preach, teach and train in both gathered and one-to-one settings.
- Ability to support and lead leaders and large volunteer teams.
- Good interpersonal skills (warmth, friendliness, empathy, humility).
- A strong ‘team player’ mentality, ideally with experience in team ministry.
- Excellence in skills such as time-management, written and verbal communication, personal organisation, and meeting engagement.
- Completed college-level theological training.
- A commitment to Reformed theology (Oasis Church is a member church of the Christian Reformed Churches of Australia).

Membership: We want to be a church where people can easily get connected and find belonging. The Ministry Area Leader for Membership will lead the charge in helping people find acceptance, mutual care, and belonging at Oasis Church.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee the integration pathway (helping people move from attending to belonging)
- Design and deliver key events and courses (e.g., Starting Point and Belonging Course)
- Lead follow-up processes for newcomers and new members
- Help foster a welcoming church culture
Maturity: We want to be a church where people are growing in godliness and Christ-likeness. The Ministry Area Leader for Maturity will lead the charge in helping people grow to become more like Christ.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee our Life Groups, including integrating new members, recruiting and training leaders, leading meetings and writing Bible study guides
- Deliver key training and equipping courses
- Help foster a culture of growth and change
Ministry: We want to be a church where people serve sacrificially, humbly, and joyfully. The Ministry Area Leader for Ministry will lead the charge in helping people use their gifts to build up the body of Christ.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee and implement the Serve Calendar
- Oversee the recruitment and integration of new members into service teams
- Provide resources and training for team leaders of our various service teams
- Design and deliver an annual Serve Sunday
- Design and deliver an annual Teams Night
- Help foster a culture of servant-heartedness
Mission: We want to be a church where more people find life in Jesus. The Ministry Area Leader for Mission will lead the charge in helping to proclaim the gospel in word and deed, locally and globally.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee and implement the Mission Calendar
- Design and deliver evangelistic events and courses (e.g. Alpha, 321 Course)
- Equip and train members in personal evangelism
- Lead follow-up processes for new believers
- Cultivate a culture of everyday evangelism across the church
- Support community outreach initiatives
- Support our global mission initiatives
