The Uniting Church in South Australia (UCASA) conducts extensive and diverse mission activities across the state, including a network of camp and conference centres under the brand of Uniting Venues SA (UVSA).

The iconic Tarooki Campsite, located in the heart of Robe, South Australia, aims to provide exceptional Christian hospitality to church and school groups and community organisations.

An opportunity exists for a permanent part-time (FTE 0.6 to FTE 0.8) Centre Manager to provide effective oversight of day-to-day operations including responsible management of staff, services, systems, buildings and equipment. This role will appeal to a multi-skilled individual or management couple sharing the role.

Reporting to the Group Manager UVSA, the Centre Manager’s key tasks are:

• lead a small team of permanent and casual staff

• respond to enquiries, receive bookings and welcome groups upon arrival

• preparation of menus and ordering of stock

• prepare and serve appetising and nutritious meals in accordance with food handing and food safety standards• ensure that the venue is clean and well-presented with a high level of cleanliness

• be on call while groups are in residence, and farewell groups upon departure

• monitor expenses and income within budget allocations

• oversight of routine and preventative maintenance of the building, equipment and grounds

• maintain communication and an effective working relationship with the GroupManager.


The successful applicant will have experience in a similar position and/or a Certificate IV qualification in Hospitality, Outdoor Recreation, Education, Community Development or associated discipline. In addition, the successful applicant will have:

• experience in the hospitality industry or associated discipline

• excellent customer service and hospitality skills

• proven ability to work unsupervised in an autonomous, self-motivated manner

• well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and mentor others


Experience within the camp and group accommodation industry will be highly regarded. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills are a must in this role, as is your demonstrated commitment to a mainstream Christian denomination.
