Night Time Community Supervisors

However, if you are someone who wants to challenge their faith by working with people on the very margins of our community, this may be the right step for you.

• Do you desire to reflect God's love to people, even if they are difficult to love?
• Do you want to empower volunteers to be practical and effective servants to those on the margins?
• Are you passionate about facilitating community with people that many in our society would not look at twice?

If the answer is yes, perhaps becoming one of two new Rough Edges' Night Time Community Supervisors is where God may be calling you?

We need people who are resilient, kind, well organized and able to communicate humbly and clearly with our Rough Edges patrons, volunteers, Program Manager, and other key stakeholders. These roles are offered as job share opportunities, working between Monday to Thursday nights. It is expected that each role will work two nights per week, plus set up time, which is a total of 10 hours per week, per role.

Ideally, you will have:

• Experience in working with people who are marginalised
• Love for Jesus and want to translate that love into practical care for vulnerable people
• Love for Christ's church and want to see more Christians volunteering to serve those on the margins
• Some practical experience in managing and working alongside volunteers
• Practical experience in building community connections with people inside and outside the church
• The ability to live with ambiguity and "rough edges"
• Lots of energy and don't take yourself too seriously

Rough Edges is an iconic community service situated in Darlinghurst. Originally established by St John's Anglican Church Darlinghurst, it was set up to provide warmth, acceptance and community to the homeless and vulnerable population of the Inner City of Sydney. It has a rich heritage of serving this community in Jesus' name since 1996.
