Rooted in Christian values and compassion, our purpose is to champion God's heart for the vulnerable and disadvantaged by delivering wrap-around care across four integrated service areas: Counselling, Family Violence Programs, COACH Mentoring, and Community Connections.

We have a dedicated team of approximately 35 staff and nearly 120 trained volunteers, all working together to make lasting impact in our community.

About the Role
We are seeking a Therapeutic Group Facilitator to join our Family Violence Program (FVP) team on a part-time basis (0.4 FTE / 2 days per week). The role is primarily based in Box Hill, with occasional work at our Burwood East site.

You will play a key role in delivering group-based therapeutic support to adult victim-survivors of family violence, with a focus on trauma-informed, psycho-educational recovery. You’ll also support our Family Violence Case Worker with intake and case management tasks where needed.

This is a meaningful opportunity for a practitioner with a heart for justice, a passion for trauma-informed recovery work, and a desire to contribute to Christ-centred community transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and co-facilitate weekly therapeutic and psycho-educational group programs for adult victim-survivors of family violence

  • Collaborate with co-facilitators and volunteers to create safe, supportive group environments

  • Assess and monitor ongoing safety concerns, contributing to safety planning where necessary

  • Maintain accurate case notes and complete related administrative tasks

  • Support intake processes and short-term case management in collaboration with the Family Violence Case Worker

  • Contribute positively to team culture, participate in reflective practice, and attend professional development and supervision

Key Program Focus

  • Courage to Heal: a year-long recovery program for women impacted by intimate partner violence

  • Short-term specialist groups (e.g., child-parent bonding, child-centred programs, art therapy)

  • Wraparound case management support

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Counselling, or a similar therapeutic field (required)

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in delivering therapeutic support (group or individual)

  • Demonstrated experience working with victim-survivors of family violence

  • Understanding of trauma-informed care, safety planning, and group dynamics

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Alignment with Christian values and a commitment to caring for vulnerable people with dignity and respect
