The Salvation Army (Salvos) Doorways model of care provides holistic financial support to individuals and families seeking short term financial assistance and ongoing financial management support services. The Doorways Team provide person-centred trauma informed care, facilitate short-term financial assistance, and walk side-by-side with participants as they build the skills and knowledge to break the cycle of poverty.


About the role
At The Salvation Army, we see every person. Our Doorways Program is a national model of care that provides holistic, person-centred support - material, emotional, and spiritual. We're there for people in crisis, but we're also there for the journey that follows.

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Caseworker to join our team, working across our Hurstville and Rockdale sites, journeying alongside individuals and families to build resilience, connection, and hope.

This is a full time permanent position based at Hurstville. Salary is in accordance with SCHADS Level 4.

What you will bring

  • A Diploma in Community Services (or related field), or significant experience supporting people facing complex challenges.

  • Experience in casework, community engagement, or financial hardship support.

  • Strong knowledge of structural poverty, trauma-informed care, and culturally sensitive practice.

  • Excellent communication skills - you listen deeply, speak with clarity, and write with purpose.

  • Proficiency in another language is highly regarded.
