The role – Deputy Head of Primary
CREST Education has an opportunity for a Deputy Head of Primary to join Rivercrest Christian College teaching team on a fulltime - fixed term basis commencing from 16 January 2026 to 8 December 2026. This pivotal role requires an inspirational educator with a proven track record of excellence in teaching and leadership, who is committed to fostering a supportive and high-achieving learning environment for both students and staff.
This role will see you supporting the Head of Primary in the strategic and operational leadership of the school while maintaining a clear focus on student learning and wellbeing. You will oversee day to day management and operations of the college, ensuring highest standards of teaching, learning and student welfare.
Key areas of responsibilities:
Support and enhance our evidence-based wellbeing program and provide services to support every student's wellbeing
Implement effective approaches and systems that will maximise student leadership development opportunities
Oversee the development and continuous improvement of the Campus curriculum
Responsibility for providing pedagogical leadership
As part of the remuneration package, this role attracts a POR allowance.
FTE component:
Deputy Head duties – 0.8
Teaching component duties – 0.2
The successful candidate will have:
Significant classroom teaching experience in primary education
Expertise in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of students
A track record of achieving strong student outcomes through effective teaching practice
Experience in a leadership role, if within a PYP setting, this would be advantageous.
Evidence of successful management of staff, including mentoring and performance management
Experience in designing, reviewing and implementing curriculum frameworks
Familiarity with assessment strategies and tracking student progress
Experience in supporting student wellbeing, including safeguarding responsibilities.
Knowledge of pastoral care systems and an understanding of how to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Ability to support students with emotional, social, and behavioural needs
Experience building strong relationships with parents and engaging them in the educational process
Knowledge of IB educational framework desirable but not essential
