We’re Looking for a Pastor to Journey with Us

Carey Church Forrestdale was planted in 2016 as a community passionate about following Jesus, growing together and serving our community.

Like many churches, we faced several challenges through Covid and were deeply affected by the resignation of our founding senior pastor in mid-2023.

We embarked on a search for a new senior pastor in 2024 and while we received some promising candidates, we discerned that God was calling us into something deeper than just filling a gap in staffing.

We reflected, and found that we were asking the wrong question – who should we appoint, when we really should have been asking, who are we?

So, we stepped back and began to look deeply at ourselves. We paused 'Sundays as normal', and began to ask some deep questions, and together we felt that God was calling us to connect with Him, with each other, and with our mission. It’s been a rich and beautiful time of renewal, not without its trials, but full of hope.

And that is what we have been focusing on for the last year.

Who We Are Now

We have reconnected with each other, holding precious relationships and being authentic with one another, and allowing those to grow organically.

We have reconnected with our mission, which is primarily serving families connected with our church and Carey Baptist College Forrestdale. You can read more about this reconnection here.

And most importantly, we have reconnected with God, going deeper into His word, leaning on His provision, gifts and graces, and expecting that we will all hear from God and follow the prompts of the Holy Spirit.

Who We Are Looking For

Having walked through the journey to this point, we believe it’s time to invite someone to walk with us. Not just to lead, but to journey alongside us, someone who feels called to guide a community that is listening deeply, loving honestly, and longing to follow Jesus more fully.
